Crop Rotation

Varying the temporal sequence of crops in a field (i.e. rotation) is a well-known agronomic practice, and nearly as old as agriculture itself. But new data is allowing us to understand exactly which crop sequences are most beneficial in a particular area, and which rotations may help (or not) to adapt to a changing climate. In a recent paper we demonstrate how satellite-based crop maps and causal inference methods can provide insights in four different regions of the world. Read the full paper, or see this story.
